Clock in on the iPad kiosk
The kiosk is the iPad you leave in the back of house running the Clockout app. It is set to one store at a time, and it is where your team punches in and out. It is not the only way a punch can be made — a manager can also clock someone in or out from the Time Clock page in the web app.
Clocking in
Section titled “Clocking in”- Enter your six-digit PIN.
- Pick the shift you are starting from the list the kiosk shows you.
- Take your photo when the camera appears.
The photo is not optional. The kiosk checks that it can see a face, and if the photo does not go through, the punch is not recorded — so wait for the confirmation before you walk away.
If you arrive early, the kiosk tells you how early and lets you confirm that you really mean to start now. If you are much too early — outside what your store’s clock-in rules allow — it refuses the punch outright rather than asking a manager to approve it.
Breaks
Section titled “Breaks”While you are clocked in, the kiosk offers Take a break. When you come back, tap End break & clock back in.
Whether a break is paid depends on its kind, not on a setting someone picked: meal breaks are unpaid and are subtracted from your worked time, and rest breaks are paid and are not. A break started from the kiosk is treated as a meal break, and so is unpaid.
Clocking out
Section titled “Clocking out”Enter your PIN, choose to clock out, and take your photo. The kiosk confirms with Clocked Out at and the time. It does not show your total hours for the shift — to see those, check your timecard in the web app.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Forgot to clock out. Tell your manager. They can correct the punch from the web app; the edit is recorded with who made it and when.
- PIN not working. A manager can set or reset your PIN from your employee profile. PINs are per store — the one you use at another location will not work here.
- Kiosk offline. The kiosk cannot record punches while it is offline. There is no queue and nothing syncs later: the punch fails and the screen shows an error. Write down the actual time and have a manager add the punch from the web app once you are back online — see Fix a missed punch.
Corrected punches flow into the same timecards payroll reads, so fix them before the pay period closes — see Run payroll.
